01 – Overview

Google.org & 826 Valencia

Role: Illustrator

As part of a Google.org grant to writing center 826 Valencia, Brand Studio amplified students’ voices using a 360 storytelling experience. I brought the students’ ideas to life by creating an immersive VR story by illustrating it in Tilt Brush.

Students experienced their story in 360 Cardboard and our team documented the creative process in a short film!

02 – Process

I created character designs based on the students’ writing- a unicorn wolf, pink polka dotted cheetahs, a taco-shaped truck and a rocketship made out pizza.

I storyboarded the ideas and fleshed out the scenes in Tilt Brush, exported all the scenes out of Tilt Brush and assembled them into an edit which was viewed in Google Cardboard.

03 – Launch Party

Students had no idea we created a 360 film from their story ideas and we surprised them with a screening party. I designed all the print collateral and stickers which students used to decorate their Google Cardboards.
